My friend Liz did this list on her blog, and asked friends to do the same on theirs.  Thanks L.  This was fun.

1. Something I am missing:  Freedom to do things and go places on a whim, mid-week dinner parties, but mostly friends who have moved away.   I don't know why, but a lot of my favorite people have moved away.  Oh why did you all move away?!

2. A quiet truth:  I hate politics.  It makes me all itchy and uncomfortable.

3. Something exciting:  Camping this weekend with my wonderful friends, the Evans & the Thrashers.  I laugh a lot when I am with them.  It's healing.  My favorite time of day is around 4 when we've done our "activity" (hike, beach, whatever) and it's chill time with hor d'oeuvres and wine, then moving on to dinner, then a campfire.  So much fun.

4. Something else:  Everything has taken a back seat since I started homeschooling.  I am slowly getting back in the "me" game by gardening (heirlooms!), drawing, and writing (if this counts).  School year is almost over!  Bittersweet.

5. A book:  The next book I want to read (reread in this case) is What's Eating Gilbert Grape.  I remember loving this book, and I want to go back to see what I loved about it.

6. Music:  I've been so out of touch with current music, and for once in my life I find that to be okay.  I've been listening to 70s music on Pandora and Jack FM, which is equivalent to KBIG when I was a kid.  But again, I'm ok with that, as long as nobody tells this to the 19 year old in me.

7. Today:  I had a great learning day with Zoe.  She barely yelled at me.  And only a couple of eye rolls.  Got donuts with friends.  Took the kids to art class, then to soccer.  Now I am in bed with my computer, a glass of wine, and a sleeping husband.  Life is good.  I feel lucky.  I am lucky.

  2. Oh yay! So honored that you would repost. I will check out What's Eating Gilbert Grape when I'm finished with Just Kids (by Patti Smith). Maybe we'll be reading (and rereading) it together. I miss you and wine and beach days and donuts and heirlooms and adult contemporary and so much more.
